DESIGN
In Hebrew the word Aviv means “spring”, the season of the Passover holiday. In fact Pesach is also known as “Chag Ha’Aviv” reflecting on it as a time of rebirth. This festive and detailed Matzah Cover design is inspired by spring & that new energy and the apple orchards, where it is said the Hebrew women would birth in secret, to hide their newborns from the Egyptians. A wreath of apple blossoms surrounds the Hebrew letters. The crescent moon reminds us that the first “mitzvah” given to the Israelites before leaving Egypt, was to count time according to lunar cycles.
The center of the design features the Hebrew word for Matzah, the unleavened bread eaten on Passover.
Hand embroidery includes the luxury bullion technique to add metallic details and dimension.
